B, Jazz, Reggae, Latin (Tours, Concerts, Clubs, Recordings)
Groove
is Number One!
My lessons will teach you to improve your ability to play good "Time"
and "Feel" by helping you to identify and develop the
components of these two very important rhythmic skills. Technique is also extremely important. Good technique will enable you to play in a relaxed manner regardless of the demands of the music. Proper sticking and pedal techniques will allow you to realize your musical ability to it's fullest potential. Remember, the best players always make it look easy! Reading is a skill that is worth it's weight in gold! If you can't read many playing opportunities will be unavailable to you. Reading also allows you to study the ideas of other players, composers and teachers. A solid understanding of Rhythmic Theory is extremely important. It goes hand in hand with your ability to read and create musical drum parts, phrases, solos and fills.
Success. I believe that all individuals have the ability to be creative. Setting achievable goals for each student allows them to frequently experience success. Over the years I have found success to be the ultimate motivator.
